What We Do

We believe that exceptional communication is critical for improving the health of individuals and communities; therefore, Mayutica researches, creates, and teaches innovative ways to help people – especially healthcare professionals – become great communicators. Our mission is to develop effective methods for improving interpersonal communication skills, and we are committed to sharing these innovations with educators and professionals around the world.

Who We Are

The Founder — Belinda Fu, MD

Belinda (aka @TheImprovDoc) is a family physician, medical educator, and improvisational actor based in Seattle, Washington. She is passionate about improving people's lives through insight and empowerment. Belinda's creative perspective stems from her unique combination of clinical, teaching, and artistic expertise. Belinda is in frequent demand as a speaker, teacher, and performer. She is a pioneer in the field of Medical Improv, and co-organized the first Annual Medical Improv Train-the-Trainer Workshop. She is also a good person to ask for restaurant recommendations. What does Mayutica mean?

Mayutica (may-YU-tik-ah) is Italian for maieutic; it describes the process of awakening a person's undiscovered knowledge and ideas.
